About the course

The course provides approved training to the competency requirements for a Marine Engine Driver 2 Near Coastal Certificate, as specified by the National Standards for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D, and the Australian Maritime and Safety Authority (AMSA).

The course includes:

  • Shipboard Safety Skill Set
  • Course Materials
  • Assessment

Qualification

Upon satisfactory completion of the training and assessment and subject to meeting further requirements of a relevant Maritime Authority, students may be able to obtain a Marine Engine Driver Class 2 Near Coastal certificate of competency from the appropriate Maritime Authority.

Career opportunities

Employment in the small vessel sector, including the commercial and tourism sectors, and in fisheries.

Location

This course will be delivered at either AMC's Newnham Campus on a full-time basis - Newnham Campus, Launceston (PDF 698.2KB) or at Seafood Training Tasmania, Hobart. It is possible that this course can be run in other locations if we have adequate client numbers.
